Start with one and switch later: the Wi-Fi model can move between your own computer and MeiMei Cloud.
The device plus the free, open-source assistant software running in Docker on your computer. The assistant and your data stay on your machine; no subscription. If you choose MeiMei AI, only the audio and text of the AI steps go to the providers MeiMei uses, pay per use. Add MeiMei Connect if you also want Claude or other AI agents to place calls through it.
The Wi-Fi device connects straight to MeiMei Cloud Calling. Nothing to install or keep running; manage everything from your MeiMei account.

No. The device and the self-hosted software work completely without it. The cloud is an option for the Wi-Fi model when you do not want to keep a computer running.
Yes, with the Wi-Fi model: change where the device connects in the MeiMei Firmware Updater. The USB model always works through a computer.
By default you use your own provider keys, so model usage (for example OpenAI) is billed to you by the provider. Or you choose MeiMei AI: you need no provider account and pay MeiMei per use, billed daily and limited by a monthly cap you set. The subscription covers running the service.
Yes. Memory is a separate service for any AI assistant that supports MCP.
The cloud services open to a small group first. Request access through Support; we tell you when your account is enabled, and nothing is charged before that.

You connect an agent from your MeiMei account, decide which numbers it may use freely, and approve everything else; you can revoke it at any time. It is free with a MeiMei account and in early access.
